Description of product

100% Pure Muga Silk SAREE in beige colour which is actually the natural colour of Muga Silk. Traditional motifs and patterns are handwoven with golden zari and subtly multi-coloured thread, giving the drape a rich look befitting any special occasion. This authentic Muga Silk drape is designed and woven by the rural weavers of Assam. This piece is undoubtedly a collector’s piece.

Muga Silk is a rare wild silk produced only in Assam. In 2007, Muga Silk has been given the Geographical Indication (GI) status, thus attesting this naturally golden coloured silk to Assam. The Central Silk Board of India has the authority to inspect Muga silk products and certify their authenticity. Muga means yellow in Assamese language. It is one of the strongest natural threads. This gorgeous fabric is known for its extreme durability, glossy texture and natural golden-yellow tint. A Muga silk piece was once reserved only for the royalty and is still highly sought-after today.

Pure Muga silk drapes are highly exclusive because only a limited number is woven each year.
